Farmers RECC will once again sponsor two heroes later this fall to see their memorials in Washington, D.C., along with other Kentucky veterans.
The chosen veterans will travel from Lexington to Washington, D.C., and will join about 70 other Kentucky veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War for a one-day tour of memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices.
Farmers RECC will sponsor the all expense- paid trip with Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.
This is the 12th year that the coops have sponsored an Honor Flight.
The 2023 mission will again be coordinated by Winchester-based Honor Flight Kentucky.
As we’ve done in the past, the veterans will fly from Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport to Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., where they will board buses for a full day of honors and sightseeing.
The day includes viewing the changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Honor Flight representatives will participate in a wreath-laying service at the tomb.
Capping off the day is a homecoming celebration to further honor the veterans.
We encourage any Farmers RECC member who is a veteran to apply to be considered for this flight at www.honorflightky.org. If you have any questions, please contact us at (270) 651-2191.
