Farmers RECC’s Annual Meeting Celebration

On a hot and steamy night, a crowd of nearly 900 member-owners and invited guests attended the 2010 Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation’s Annual Meeting held at the Cave City Convention Center Thursday July 8th.

Members were given the opportunity to learn on ways that they can lower their energy bills while helping to save the environment with Farmers RECC’s SimpleSaver direct load control program.

Members could also participate in a free health fair sponsored by T J Samson Community Hospital; Walmart Vision Center provided free eye examinations. A host of other community and energy saving activities were provided at no charge by Farmers RECC.

Inside the main hall, True Harmony from Metcalfe County kicked off the annual meeting with a beautiful rendition of Southern Gospel music, followed by the Farmers RECC business meeting conducted by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Freddie Button. During the business meeting, two members were elected to the board of directors. Elected to serve three-year terms were incumbent directors Paul Hawkins, District II-Hart, Grayson and Larue counties and Neil Pendygraft, District I-Barren and Edmonson counties.

After the regular business meeting the “real business” of the cooperative began with the 61st Annual Miss Farmers RECC Scholarship Pageant.
