Hundreds of patriotic, flag-waving citizens gave a local veterans ─ and 41 other Kentucky veterans ─ a welcome home Saturday that they will never forget.
Mr. Charles Geralds of Munfordville was among the 43 war veterans who traveled from Lexington to Washington, D.C., Aug. 27, as part of this year’s Honor Flight. Mr. Geralds traveled with the other Kentucky veterans from World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War for the one-day tour of war memorials erected in their honor in the nation’s capital.

Farmers RECC Power Supplier Seeks Approval of Kentucky PSC for Solar Project

(Glasgow, KY) Farmers RECC is pleased to announce that its wholesale power provider, East Kentucky Power Cooperative, today filed a request with the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) to construct an 8.5-megawatt solar project in Clark County, Ky.

Farmers RECC Receives ‘Silver Switch Award’ for Glasgow Landfill-Gas-to-Energy Project
To recognize its unique energy production project with the Glasgow Landfill-Gas-to-Energy (LFGTE) project, Farmers RECC in Kentucky has been honored with a national recognition from the Rural Electricity Resource Council (RERC). The 2016 “Silver Switch Award” was presented to Farmers RECC on May 23, 2016 during RERC’s national conference in Columbus, Ohio. Accepting the award was Farmers RECC President and CEO, Bill Prather.

The Annual Meeting of Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation will be Thursday evening, July 14, 2016, at the Cave City Convention Center located at Cave City, Kentucky. Registration will begin at 6:00 p.m. CDST.
The cooperative's Annual Membership meeting will be held for the purpose of presenting reports on the previous year, announcing the results of directors, and the transacting of such business as may properly come before the meeting.

The Landfill-Gas-To-Energy (LFGTE) plant is now producing electricity at 90% of the capacity of the generator while final adjustments are made by Glasgow landfill operators and East Kentucky Power Cooperative.
The project began as a result of extensive discussion between Farmers RECC and the city of Glasgow. Farmers RECC was interested in the production of energy from renewable sources and the city of Glasgow was interested in capturing the methane gas produced at the landfill.
