WIRE Scholarships Available for Kentucky College Students

The Kentucky Chapter of Women in Rural Electrification (WIRE) is taking applications from Kentucky college students to offer at least three $1,000 scholarships.

The scholarships are open to any applicant who meets the following criteria:

  • he or she must be a junior or senior in a Kentucky college or university;

  • he or she must have at least 60 hours of credits by the beginning of the fall semester; and

  • his or her immediate family must be served by one of the state's 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives

    • The scholarship application deadline is June 16, 2008.

    Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievements, extracurricular activities, career goals, recommendations from professors and community leaders, and financial need.
